Optench

Optench is a virtual optical bench for the design of optical systems. It simulates interactions between light sources, lenses, mirrors and occluders.

I created this because I was trying to design VR headset optics and I discovered the state of software in this area is really poor. The professional standard seems to be a software package with a 4 — 5 digit price tag and the best open source solution wouldn't display a UI for me at all.

Packages are available below for six major operating systems: Windows, MacOS, Arch, Debian, RHEL and FreeBSD.
